AIRRC: African Immigrant and Refugee Resource Center

Our Mission

The mission of the African Immigrant and Refugee Resource Center is to provide African and other immigrants and refugees of the Bay Area with the tools that they need to lead independent, productive, and dignified lives and to become contributing members of the Bay Area Community. The AIRRC provides all of its services free of charge.

Social Justice

The AIRRC is committed to the basic belief that every immigrant has dignity and protection under the law. To that degree, our agency stays active in a host of conferences, empowerment activities, and networking with other civil rights and immigrant rights groups. AIRRC actively refers clients that face challenging immigration issues to lawyers who provide affordable services to lawyers. AIRRC consistently supports and advocates for just immigration policy designed to advance opportunities for immigrants and refugees.

Services

We provide a range of services to complement the job development component. AIRRC assists clients in filling out immigration/INS forms, job applications and divorce papers. The Center also provides crisis intervention counseling, bus tickets, translation/interpretation assistance, and referral services.

Since our inception, we have helped more than 5,000 immigrants and refugees with jobs and referral services. We have filled out more than 5,000 forms and applications that directly resulted in an adjustment of status, work permit authorization, or recouping funds for a client. In addition the Center has clocked more than 1,000 hours of translation, crisis intervention, and counseling assistance predominantly in immigration adjustment issues.
